Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech Betting Odds 11/2/2019
Pittsburgh is giving up 7.5 points in this ACC matchup. The Panthers are currently getting -330 moneyline odds while the Yellow Jackets are +250. This ACC contest will probably offer several in-game betting scenarios, and the over/under (O/U) has been placed at 44.5 points.
The line opened at 8 while the total hasn’t moved since it opened at 44.5.
The Panthers are 5-3 straight up (SU), including 2-2 SU against conference opponents. The Yellow Jackets are 2-5 SU overall and are also 1-3 SU in conference play. Both of these teams have rewarded gamblers this year as the Panthers have gained 2.5 units and the Yellow Jackets are up 6.3 units.
The Panthers are looking to get back on track after a 16-12 loss to Miami (FL) last week. The passing attack wasn’t where it needed to be as Kenny Pickett completed only 18 passes on 32 attempts for 146 yards and two interceptions. A. J. Davis (only 45 yards on 15 rush attempts) and V’Lique Carter (47 yards on 11 carries) led the running attack while Maurice Ffrench (eight receptions, 47 yards) and Davis (four catches, 24 yards) handled the receiving duties in the defeat.
Georgia Tech is coming off of a 28-21 win over Miami (FL). James Graham completed nine-of-18 passes for 97 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Mason (141 yards on 20 rush attempts, one TD) and the signal-caller Graham (23 yards on 12 carries) led the running game as Ahmarean Brown (three receptions, 41 yards, one TD) and Adonicas Sanders (two catches, 30 yards) led the pass-catching corps in the win.
Pittsburgh has run the ball on 46.6 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Georgia Tech has an overall rush percentage of 62.6 percent. The Panthers have produced 128 rush yards per game (including 117 per game against Atlantic Coast opponents) and have five touchdowns on the ground this year. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 169 rushing yards per contest (172 in conference) and have nine total rush TDs.
If the results so far this season are any indication, then it appears the Panthers ought to have the more disruptive lines up front. Their offensive line has allowed just 33 sacks while the D-line logged 32 sacks. The Yellow Jackets, on the other hand, have allowed 16 sacks and their defense has sacked opposing QBs on just 17 occasions.
The Panthers have logged 255 yards/game in the air overall (208 per game versus conference opposition) and have 12 passing TDs so far. The Yellow Jackets have produced 146 pass yards per outing (163.0 against ACC competition) and have seven total pass scores.
Pittsburgh has allowed opponents to rush for an average of 86 yards and pass for 205 yards per game. Georgia Tech has allowed 226.3 yards per game on the ground and 185.6 to opponents in the air. The Panthers are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of just 4.09 to opponents, while the Yellow Jackets have given up a 6.17 ANY/A.
Pickett is up to 1,516 passing yards this year. He’s connected on 154-of-256 attempts with six passing touchdowns and six interceptions. Pickett’s got a 4.65 adjusted net yards per pass attempt, including 4.08 over the last two games.
We’re looking for Panthers to control the pace by pounding the defense with their running backs. Along with Maurice Ffrench (443 yards, two TDs), A. J. Davis (229 rush yards, two rush TDs, 203 receiving yards) and V’Lique Carter (140 rush yards, 130 receiving yards, two receiving TDs) have brought significant production to the Pittsburgh offense.
For the home team, James Graham has put up 460 yards, four TDs and three INTs. Graham’s ANY/A stands at 4.12 for the year and 5.03 across his past two games.
The Yellow Jackets should also look to control the clock by turning to their backfield. In addition to Jordan Mason (43 receiving yards), Adonicas Sanders (122 receiving yards) and Ahmarean Brown (two rush yards, 201 receiving yards, three TDs) have seen a multitude of touches lately.
When these two squads faced each other last year, Pittsburgh emerged victorious by a final score of 24-19.
