Dota 2 crashes on startup.
This is the problem, on executing Dota 2, black screen shows up (with no vid clip) for a second and then immediately crashes without warning. Only Dota 2 seems to act up this way, Civ 5 works fantastically.
SPECS:
Lenovo y510p
GPU: GT 755M (no SLI)
Drivers up to date.
Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_gdr.130913-2141)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: LENOVO
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs),
2.4GHz
Memory: 12288MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 12200MB RAM
Page File: 2933MB used, 11698MB available
I have done the following solutions:
Verify integrity of game cache.
Reinstalling Dota 2 multiple amount of times
Reinstalling NVIDIA drivers.
Commands – novid – safe – autoconfig
I even did a complete system recovery using Lenovo key recovery, to no avail.
Run Steam as adiminstrator, run Dota 2 as administrator.
I have attached a zip file of my recent dump crashes, What could the problem be. I just.. don’t get it.
PS I also have crash dumps from steamapps/Dota 2, but the files seem to large to upload as an attachment on this site.
EDIT: those other crash dumps in steamapps have accessviolation in them, what does this mean?
I’m having the exact same problem since 5 days now. Maybe you can find similarities in the dump files.

It’s failing right away trying to display a frame of video. Even in the dumps where you run with – novid it crashes trying to display a frame. Maybe you should try forcing windowed mode to see if you can get it started. e. g. try these launch options:
-novid – sw – w 1024 – h 768
That will force a windowed mode with a low resolution (1024×768). Maybe that will get you started so you can reconfigure the video and not crash. I can’t tell if there is a specific setting causing the crash from the dump files though.
